Honda S90 (Super 90) Benly 90, CS90

1964 - 1969

The Honda S90 is one of the most collected old Honda motorcycle.  This was the first real motorcycle of many 60's baby boomers and when talking with someone from that era, they seem to always have fond memories of owning a Super 90 or knew  someone that had one.

Rugged T-bone stamped steel frame, 18" wheels, reliable 8hp overhead cam engine, light, nimble and fun to ride.

4-speed gearbox with a manual clutch.  The S90 is very long legged and can reach speeds of
65-70 mph.  Up hill or against the wind is more like 40-45mph.

1966 Honda S90 in White.

White seems to be the rarest color and black the most common.

Also came in red and blue.

In other countries the S90 is called a Benly 90.  Many of these bikes made their way to the states through men in the service and some from Canada.  The Benly 90 is an S90 with Benly 90 on the tank badges and a couple other very small differences.  The Honda Benly 90 pictured was found in a barn in CA that was owned by a retired Vet.

This is and example of another Honda Benly90 that made it to the US with the very rare factory two piece seat.

1966 Honda Benly 90
found in rural northwestern MN.

Features different than the US bikes:
1.  Small rectangular blinker.
2.  Side stand.
3.  Ridged buddy pegs that don't fold up.
4.  Rotary shift pattern.  That is you can shift from 4th to neutral and to first.

Notice:
Rare side stand, the US models only came with a center stand but some non-US models have a side stand and a center stand.

Ridged buddy pegs that don't fold up.

Enclosed chain guard.

Stamped steel swing arm.
(The early swing arms were fabricated from tubing)
