Honda CT90 and CT110 (Trail 90)

Honda CT90 ride on trails near Mt. Iron, MN 8-6-04
Mt. Iron is a small mining town in northern Minnesota.  There are hundreds of miles of old abandon mining road that are not mapped or marked.

This is a hill that looks almost straight up in real life.  My CT90 crawled up it in first gear low range, the front tire started to come up but I compensated and made it up.

This is cool!  It goes straight down into the trees then straight back up to the same height.  I started in 3rd gear down the hill and at the bottom the G forces pull you down in the seat and then you go right back up the other side.  Very fun.
The scenery is very nice from on top of the mine dumps.  The water in the picture is an abandon iron ore mine pit that has filled up with water.

The water is crystal clear in these old mine pits.  What you see in this picture is about 4 feet out it drop straight down, down, down.
The water is blue green in color and a great place to swim, if you can swim.

From on top of a old mine dump you look almost straight out to the very tall water tower.
Typical trail.

More old abandon mine pits.

Current mining operation for taconite, notice the layers and the large shovel at the bottom.
